A message from Dr. Peter Brukner

We understand there has been some apprehension about paying for the Defeat Diabetes Program, so we thought we'd get our founder to address your concerns.

Defeat Diabetes Program - Why pay?

Hi, it’s Peter Brukner here, the founder of Defeat Diabetes. I have noted a number of posts complaining about the cost of the program. Some have even suggested the program should be free.

Perhaps if I explain the background to Defeat Diabetes it might help.

I have been waiting a long time for one of the Government or industry funded organisations to produce something like this, but alas, nothing. So we decided to do it ourselves.

The time factor

To produce an app-based program such as this is, time consuming and expensive. As far as time goes, I have spent the last six months working on this virtually full time without payment. Dr. Paul Mason and Master Nutr. APD Nicole Moore have also put in enormous amounts of time.

The financial investment

Producing more than 100 hours of video and numerous articles, and recipes not only takes a lot of time, but it also requires a lot of money. The tech aspects of creating an app are also not cheap.

In fact we have already spent over a million dollars creating the program. We have funded all of this out of our own pockets - no Government support, no industry support. Similar programs overseas cost twice as much (UK) up to six times as much (USA), but we were desperate to keep the costs as low as possible.

The benefits of joining the Defeat Diabetes Program

Two dollars a week is not much to pay when the likelihood is that you will gain hundreds of dollars of benefits such as reduced medications and doctors’ visits, not to mention the long term reductions in health costs and work absenteeism associated with type 2 diabetes. What is your health worth?

The bottom line

So I am sorry we have to ask you to pay, but given the potential benefit to your health, I consider it a small price to pay - $2/week - to put your diabetes into remission.

I hope that helps you understand where we are coming from. We are committed to reducing the incidence of type 2 diabetes in Australia, and are continuing to work on the program creating additional content to achieve this goal.
