We all have slip ups from time to time, and it’s completely normal. After all, on the Defeat Diabetes Program, you might be trying to change a lifetime of old habits, and create new ones.
The thing to remember is not to be disheartened if we do fall off the low carb wagon.
Dr Peter Brukner and Dr Paul Mason talk us through some simple strategies that will get you motivated and feeling good to jump back on the low carb lifestyle and work towards your goals.
Dr Paul Mason: So Peter, with the Defeat Diabetes Program, we're asking people to change a lifetime of eating habits.
Dr Peter Brukner: And we understand that and can be very difficult.
Dr Paul Mason: So I imagine that you know a lot of people will actually fall off the wagon from time to time so would you have any advice for people if that happens?
Dr Peter Brukner: Well, I think the first thing is don't stress don't feel guilty. We know from our experience with smoking for instance, that on average it takes eight to nine times of giving up before you give up permanently. That doesn't mean that after the first one or two times, you give up. You keep going and I think it's similar with the with our program here.
Dr Paul Mason: So essence, what you're saying is don't throw in the towel. If you happen to fall off the wagon, be better come back stronger. And what a lot of people may not realize that if they're wanting to be in ketosis, if they do fall off the wagon, if they simply have a good night's sleep followed by a healthy brekkie, they'll be back in ketosis within 24 hours.
Dr Peter Brukner: Easy to get back on.
