Air Fryer Speedy Steak Salad

What did we do before the humble air fryer?! Make this speedy steak salad when you’re short on time and in need of something satisfying!

  • 220 g beef sirloin or ribeye steak
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups mixed lettuce, (romaine, rocket or spinach)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp parsley freshly chopped (for garnish)


  • Preheat your air fryer to 200°C/400°F.
  • Rub the beef steak with olive oil and season with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Place the steak in the preheated air fryer basket and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium rare, or adjust the time according to your preference. Keep in mind that cooking times may vary based on the thickness of the steak and the air fryer model.
  • Once cooked, remove the steak from the air fryer, wrap it with aluminium foil, and allow it to rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  • While the steak is resting, prepare the salad. In a large bowl, combine the mixed lettuce greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and sliced red onion.
  • Once the steak has rested, slice it thinly against the grain.
  • Assemble by dividing the salad between two plates or lunch boxes.  Arrange the slices of medium rare beef on top of the salad. Dress the salad if desired with some lemon juice and extra sea salt.


Don't have an air fryer? Prepare the steak by heating a frypan over medium-high heat with a teaspoon of olive oil, butter or ghee. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then add to the pan and cook for about 2½ minutes each side for medium rare, or to your liking.
Add extra flavour and satiety to your salad with healthy fats such as feta cheese or avocado.
